Former MK Dons star Dele Alli has been held at knifepoint and injured during a robbery at his home

The 24-year-old Tottenham midfielder was threatened with the knife and punched in the face after burglars broke in during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

He sustained a facial injury before the intruders ransacked his bedrooms and fled, taking expensive jewellery and watches.

Dele, whose injury is described as non-serious, has now thanked people on Twitter for their support.

He posted: “Thank you for all the messages. Horrible experience but we’re all okay now. Appreciate the support.”

Police say the attackers took numerous items from the Hadley Wood house and they are now reviewing CCTV footage of the incident.

Dele was in a downstairs room with Harry and Ruby Mae when the intruders burst in just after midnight.

They punched the England International in the mouth and assaulted Harry after demanding they over valuables.

One of the burglars then ran upstairs and made an untidy search of the star’s bedrooms.

A source told The Sun newspaper “The group have all been left extremely shaken. Dele was still awake and playing pool with the others when the raiders got into the property.

“It all kicked off downstairs and Dele was punched in the mouth by one of the two masked robbers."

A spokesman for the Metropolitan police said: “Police were called at approximately 00:35 on Wednesday 13 May to reports of a robbery at a residential address in Barnet.

“Two males gained entry to the property and stole items of jewellery, including watches, before fleeing. One male occupant of the property, aged in his 20s, suffered a minor facial injury after being assaulted. He did not require hospital treatment.”

No arrests have yet been made.

Dele and his Spurs teammates are in the process of meeting the Premier League over Project Restart, with the aim of working towards a return to football next month.
