Jake Forster-Caskey said the players will shoulder the responsibility after the humiliating 3-1 defeat away at Bolton on Saturday.

In a performance lacking quality, foresight and threat, Dons never looked like threatening Bolton, who in truth, were allowed to look very good on the day.

While Forster-Caskey was one of only two presentable performances in Dons colours - the other being Jonny Williams in his debut for the club - he admitted none of the players deserved any credit for the show at the Macron Stadium.

“We weren’t good enough, there aren’t any excuses,” he said. “We have to look at ourselves because there’s no one else to blame. We need to give more or else we’ll be in real trouble.

“No-one saw it coming. After the last two performances, we came into the game with a lot of confidence. We conceded early, which doesn’t help, but there aren’t any excuses.

“It was poor. We’ve got enough in the dressing room to win or at least get a point so we’re naturally disappointed.

“We need to stand up now. Every game is massive for us. We need to get as many points as we can get now.

“I don’t know if we should be winning them because that’s disrespectful to those teams, but they’re huge games when you’re playing other teams in the relegation zone.

“You need to be trying to take something from these games, but today we were nowhere near good enough.”
