Open Huddersfield are '˜like Dons in League 1'

Dons travelled to the John Smith’s Stadium back in October, and two individual errors cost Dons in a 2-0 defeat branded ‘rubbish’ by the manager.

Fast forward four months, and the landscape in Yorkshire has changed, with Chris Powell departing as manager, replaced by David Wagner.

And under new leadership, the Terriers have gone from relegation candidates a mid-table side, sitting 15th prior to tonight’s match at stadium:mk.

Huddersfield come into the game off the back of two excellent wins over Nottingham Forest and Wolves, reminding Robinson of a team much closer to home.

“Huddersfield remind me of us in League 1,” he said. “Huddersfield are the most expansive team, and we’re in for a very difficult evening on Tuesday. The games come thick and fast.

“They are as expansive as I’ve seen all year. They’re open, massively open.

“It’ll be a very interesting game in the way we approach it. We’ve got a plan, and we’ll see how we can expose that.

“If we don’t get it right, with the quality they possess, we’ll get beaten. That’s the harsh reality of life in the Championship.”

Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Bristol City did little to ease Dons’ fears of relegation this season, but in reality, did little to worsen it either, as they remained five points clear of the drop zone while ticking off another game in the process.

While the result allows Bristol City to edge themselves further away from relegation, Robinson insists concentrating on others around them won’t make life easier for Dons.

He said: “I couldn’t give two hoots about teams getting away from us. If someone told me Rotherham and Bolton are catching us, then I’d be worried.

“We don’t want to look back, we want to look forwards.

“To an extent we have to look at teams around us, but we want to claw up, and by doing that, we know we’re pushing the others down.”
